Dear contestant,

Thank you for your interest in our DRAGSTAR competition. You have been initially earmarked as a potential contestant. For confirmation of entry into the events we require more information and a statement of intent by the way of a returnable deposit. You can find the criteria for confirmation below.

1. Full legal name.

2. Drag/stage name.

3. Address.

4. Phone number.

5. Email address.

6. Social media details (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc).

7. The Competition you require to be entered into (i.e. taster, main, or both).

8. A returnable deposit of:

£10 for the taster competition.

£20 for the main competition.

£30 for both competitions.

9. A 20 second video of yourself performing in front of a live, on-line or virtual (for example TikTok) audience.

10. A covering letter explaining your act, style, and why you feel you would be of value to the competition.

The 20 second video is evidence that you can perform in front of an audience, (we will not use it as a selection process for your talent).

Taster Weekend 20th & 21st February

Friday 20th

first round – acts can choose between lip-sync, singing and joke telling, Individual talent)

Judges will decide on the finalists for Saturday’s show)

Saturday 21st

Second round of chosen acts who each have two chances to impress the judges.

Judges to choose the final three acts which is then handed over to the audience to decide first, second, and third place.

Winner is automatically entered into the main competition at quarter final stage, awarded a trophy, and a paid performance at Bar Plus.

DRAGSTAR TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All contestants are expected to provide their own backing music on either mobile devices, or usb flashdrives.

Times of contests are 9pm until 11pm Fridays & Saturdays

Contestants must pay a fully refundable deposit to qualify to entry into DRAGSTAR.

Bar Plus is a hate crime reporting centre, therefore contestants must choose material that does not single out certain sections of society in a way that would be considered a hate crime. This is difficult to do as everyone has a different tolerance, and idea for what constitutes a hate crime. Therefore, we strongly advise contestants to avoid material that could be construed as offensive.

One a contestant has been voted into the next round, it is expected that those contestants continue throughout the contest until they are either voted off or win the competition.

Deposit refunds are given back to the contestants after the final of each competition.

BAR PLUS website is owned by Transpiritdelights LTD, which is a data controller of your personal data.

Bar Plus zero tolerance drugs and security policy

Searches at the entrance

At Bar Plus Bar, selective and random bags and coats will be searched after permission is granted from the customer. Refusal will result in the customer being refused entry to the bar.

Regular walk throughs and toilet checks

During Friday and Saturday Evenings, a regular and constant presence by one of the three management staff will be noticeable. Toilets will be scrutinised and CCTV blind spots will be especially targeted.

Training Staff, Staff Vigilance, and customers encouraged to report suspicious behaviour

Drugs awareness training videos by the Security Industry association and Essex police will be played during staff training sessions.

Seizure of Drugs, Storing, Liaising with Police

Policies for seizure of illicit drugs and dangerous weapons is a condition of Bar Plus 3am extended licence.

CCTV and Record Keeping

Bar Plus are committed to training Staff with how to locate filmed footage, and to copy footage to flash drive upon police request. Securely fitted drugs and dangerous weapons safe accessible by Essex police only is another condition for Bar Plus 3am Licence.

SIA Door Security Staff and Conflict Management

All three management team members, Kirsty & Elfen Hebden-Lambird and Craig Freeman, are SIA Door Security trained and licensed to protect customers and staff during extended opening hours on Friday and Saturday Evenings. Bar Plus adopts a soft friendly approach with security, whilst maintaining high standards for behaviour, Licensing objectives, and drugs policy.
