Our Unique Concept
Our concept grew by being mobile DJ's where we asked the LGBTQ+ society of Chelmsford what they wanted with a pub for them. The venue had to be cheerful, bright, welcoming, and original. A coffee bar style aesthetic during the day, and cocktail/nightclub atmosphere in the evening had to be created. A woman on her own had to feel safe with venturing into Bar Plus. However, our bar had to appeal to everyone who had inclusivity in their hearts, and open minds without prejudice. In short, Bar Plus had to be a shing beacon of inclusivity, a celebration of diversity, and acceptance for everyone's uniqueness. We succeeded and went beyond our own expectations. There is not a day that goes by without someone congratulating us on our achievements in creating a venue that so many have said applauded. Bar Plus has become the go-to-place for being oneself.
BAR PLUS FOR US
Our concept tore up the British pub rule book for what should be offered to customers. Femininity was key to the design creation. Soft furnishings in pinks and light blues brightened the interior. A dedicated Cocktail and Barista coffee bar was built as a second bar to offer a unique customer focused experience. Quality is key to creating a reassuring vibe as soon as you step inside. Lighting which can be changed to create different atmospheres enhances, and changes the feel of the venue which slowly evolves through the daytime into the evening. First class DJ standard sound systems with constantly updated chart and dance music keeps the venue fresh and on trend with customer needs. Happy and enthusiastic bar staff are not only here to instantly serve you, they are also armed with specialist training and knowledge to respond positively to issues that you may need to find a solution for. Our 'one bar for all' concept is built upon the need to supply a safe environment for the LGBTQ+ and the larger community who requires a bar that has inclusivity, acceptance, respect, and positivity in their hearts and minds.

It is not enough to state that we are "one bar for all" and an inclusive place to relax in. We go way beyond the rhetoric and deliver first class nights out for everyone. We constantly strive for better and do not get complacent. We are eager to hear your views and suggestions for improvement. Our driving force is to make your experience the best it can be. Our other focus is on interaction. In a world where people are becoming more and more reclusive, we make this simple comment: "what are we if all we do is live our lives communicating through our screens." There is no substitute for face to face socialising. Therefore, we approach bar management with an aim to bring people together and create a community who care for each other, and rejoice in each others differences.

Not only do we supply an unrivalled entertainments bar, but we are also a Hate Crime reporting centre and home to our not-for-profit 'speak safely' service which is on-call during opening hours to accommodate those who are suffering persecution, discrimination, hate crimes, sexist or racist abuse and any other issue that reduces a person to a state of despair.
